Are There Many Job Vacancies for Electricians in L.a?

Do they get paid as well as they do in Australia?

Suggestion:

The United States is in a recession, with 1 in 9 Americans out of work. California has the second highest unemployment rate in the U.S. (Michigan is first). Jobs here are almost non existent. It is quite common to hear of people being out of a job for a year or more. Part of California's problems are because of the slump in the building trades, which would include electricians.

Besides the poor economy you would also have the problem of getting a work visa. To get one an American company would have to sponsor you because you have a skill needed in the U.S., and there were not enough qualified Americans to fill all the jobs. At the present time the ONLY careers to qualify require an advanced degree in Medicine, Engineering or Computer Technology. Ordinary trades people simply will not qualify. Australia has similar laws that would prevent Americans from coming there and taking jobs away from Australian citizens.

I don't know what electricians get paid in Australia, but a young relative is a union apprentice (going through school and working) and he is making a nice living. The owner of the company, his gf's dad, makes a very nice living — big house near the beach, daughter went to private school, etc. He handles residential and commercial, working on a major college job right now. But he's been in the business a long time and is a great salesperson.

Because of the economy, less people and businesses are remodeling and building, less need for contractors. I doubt there are many job openings for electricians compared to the number looking for work.

You'd have to consider that it would be very hard to get a work visa, we have plenty of contractors of all kinds looking for jobs. And you'd likely have to be re-certified or trained or whatever to be licensed in the US. Lately there have been major crackdowns on unlicensed contractors in LA, arrests on TV and everything.

Good luck!

There are tens of thousands unelmpoyed electricians and other construction trades people here now. Construction is dead here and there is now ay you will get a job. Besides work vid=sas are for more highly skilled people like engineers. Electricians are not high up enough on the skill level to get a work based visa.
