Though these incandescent light bulbs came as a great relief and helped the world coming out of darkness, but they are a constant threat to our eco system.
After a lot of research, scientists came out with one good alternative option to these traditional light bulbs. CFL( compact fluorescent light bulbs) are much more energy efficient and do not have any negative effect on the environment like the traditional bulbs. But in spite of knowing all the benefits of these CFL’s, people are still not limiting the use of those harmful traditional bulbs.
Almost 12-15 percent of world’s electricity is consumed to provide sufficient light. Ironically, a major share of the energy assigned to the lighting purpose is irrationally consumed by those inefficient traditional light bulbs. Hence, their increased usage, due to booming infrastructures around the world, has led to nothing but climate destruction, global warming and paralyzed eco-system.
The major disadvantage of traditional light bulbs is that, they are not at all energy efficient sources and are also effecting the eco system. In addition to that the light produced is too dim. So, these reasons should be sufficient for anyone to limit their usage and help protect the environment as finally we would be the sufferers.
For example; according to a study, an incandescent bulb converts only 4-5 percent of consumed energy into light. Surely, a complete wastage! However, a CFL, if used, can produce the same quantum of light saving more than 80% percent of energy.
CFL’s apart from being energy efficient sources, live for a longer period than incandescent bulbs. Their life is almost 8-10 times longer than the traditional bulbs. So, it is a cheaper option as well.
CFL light bulbs are much more soothing for the eyes as the light produced is white light and they can illuminate the space very beautifully and that too without spending much so it is an affordable option. You can use CFL lamps to enhance the look of your home. You can use them as accent lighting fixtures and can highlight special features of your room like any art work or a painting.
