Job Application Etiquette?

One of the [many, many] job vacancies I've sent my CV off to have replied thanking me for my application with an attached application form and have asked me to post it. Should I respond to their email thanking them for the correspondance (and if so, how should I word it?) or shall I just leave it alone and send them another covering letter with the form in the post?

Suggestion:

ALWAYS follow-up with any correspondence or personal meetings of any kind. It's one of those things employers like to see. You don't want to let them think their company is just another place you dropped off an application. You want them to think you want to work for their company period.

It is not necessary to respond to a informational email. Just send your CV through the mail as requested.

You have inadvertently sent me a duplicate application. Please let me know if you require a second copy.
